Puerto Rico Ferry publishes its sailing times only as a PDF, linked off two route pages, with no HTML table anywhere on the site. That is the whole reason every guide on the internet prints a different timetable — most reprint an old grid, and the honest ones link the PDF and shrug.
Below is the current one as text, checked against both documents on 23 September 2026. Both are headed “OFFICIAL VESSEL ITINERARY” and stamped “LAST UPDATE: June 3, 2026”, effective 1 August to 30 November 2026.
Ceiba ↔ Vieques
| Monday–Friday | Saturday & Sunday | |
|---|---|---|
| Ceiba → Vieques | 4:30 AM · 4:45 AM* · 8:30 AM · 1:00 PM · 3:00 PM · 4:45 PM · 6:30 PM · 8:00 PM | 4:30 AM · 8:30 AM · 10:00 AM · 1:30 PM · 4:00 PM · 8:00 PM |
| Vieques → Ceiba | 6:00 AM · 7:15 AM · 10:00 AM · 3:00 PM · 4:30 PM · 7:15 PM · 8:30 PM · 9:30 PM | 6:00 AM · 10:00 AM · 12:00 PM · 3:30 PM · 5:30 PM · 9:30 PM |
* The operator’s own footnote on that weekday sailing: “On Tuesdays & Fridays departure time is at 3:45 AM.” An hour earlier than the printed time, on the sailing most likely to be booked by someone catching a morning flight.
Going for the bio bay? The last boat back to Ceiba is 9:30 PM, weekdays and weekends, and the bay is a night trip, so plan to stay on the island — at least one operator asks you to confirm a bed on Vieques before it will book you. The new-moon dates and the tours that leave from the island are on the Mosquito Bay page, and if you do want to go back the same night, Mosquito Bay from San Juan in a day sets out which operators plan their first tour around this boat.
Ceiba ↔ Culebra
Corrected 21 September 2026: the weekend 5:30 AM sailing to Culebra was first published here as 6:00 AM.
| Monday–Friday | Saturday & Sunday | |
|---|---|---|
| Ceiba → Culebra | 3:30 AM · 5:30 AM · 9:00 AM · 12:30 PM · 3:30 PM · 5:30 PM · 7:30 PM | 3:30 AM · 5:30 AM · 8:00 AM · 9:00 AM† · 2:00 PM · 6:00 PM · 7:00 PM |
| Culebra → Ceiba | 6:00 AM · 8:00 AM · 11:30 AM · 3:30 PM · 5:30 PM · 7:30 PM · 9:30 PM | 6:00 AM · 8:00 AM · 11:00 AM · 1:00 PM† · 4:00 PM · 8:00 PM · 9:30 PM |
† The Culebra sheet carries a footnote reading “Hazardous material trip on Saturdays.” It is marked against the weekend 9:00 AM outbound and the weekend 1:00 PM return, and nowhere else. A separate footnote on the weekend 9:30 PM return covers 1 and 2 August only and has expired.
Going for the day? The Culebra day trip from San Juan builds a weekday and a weekend around these sailings, with the hour on Flamenco each one leaves you.
One more thing worth knowing about this document: its English header says the itinerary runs to “NOVEMBER 31, 2026”, a date that does not exist. The Spanish half of the same sheet says 30 November, which is what we have used.
Who actually owns this timetable
Both PDFs carry the same footnote, and it is worth knowing before you email the ferry company about a change:
“All Puerto Rico Ferry schedules are created by and at the full direction of the Government of Puerto Rico. For questions regarding schedule changes, please contact www.dtop.pr.gov/.”
The operator runs the boats. It does not set the times.
The crossing takes an hour, whatever else you have read
| Source | Ceiba → Vieques |
|---|---|
| Puerto Rico Ferry, the operator | 1 hour |
| Discover Puerto Rico, page one | 30 minutes |
| Discover Puerto Rico, page two | 45 minutes |
Three official figures for one crossing, two of them from the same publisher. Ceiba to Culebra the operator gives as an hour and a half.
Plan on the operator’s number. It is the only one produced by someone who has to run the schedule, and the cost of being wrong is a missed connection at the far end of a two-hour drive.
The three deadlines that catch people
- The terminal opens one hour before the first scheduled departure and closes with the last ship.
- Tickets must be bought 15 minutes before the sailing you want to board. That does not apply to tickets for a future date.
- Boarding closes 10 minutes before departure.
Which means the practical cut-off for a walk-up is a quarter of an hour before the time printed above, not the time printed above.
On the 3:30 and 4:30 AM sailings, those rules put you at the terminal in the middle of the night. Where to stay before the Ceiba ferry works out when a bed in Ceiba or Fajardo beats the drive from San Juan.
Terminals
| Address | |
|---|---|
| Ceiba | Marina Dr., Roosevelt Roads, Ceiba, PR 00735 |
| Vieques | Morropo Street, Vieques, PR 00765 — Isabel Segunda |
| Culebra | Pedro Marquez Street, Culebra, PR 00775 — Dewey |
When this expires
30 November 2026. The operator has not said where the successor document
will be published, and the URL pattern is not predictable — the Vieques PDF
lives under /uploads/2026/06/ and the Culebra one under /uploads/2026/08/.
The service-alerts page renders empty.
So this page carries a hard review date rather than a promise. If you are reading it in December, the grid above is history and the PDFs linked at each table are where the current answer lives. Planning a crossing over Christmas and New Year? Vieques and Culebra over the holidays has who boards first, when December’s seats go on sale and the dark bio bay nights. Holy Week has had its own special schedule every recent year, and Vieques and Culebra over Holy Week 2027 has the last four side by side.
